Lakeview, lakeside, lakefront: But WHERE ARE THE LAKES?

The Story of lakes in Bangalore is a classic tale of all talk and no action. While the city administration claims to understand what plagues the dying water system, it is doing little to bring down the increasing amount of sewage flowing into the lakes, or stop encroachment that is costing Bengaluru its viral water resources and lung spaces. It's been months since the central environment department asked states to constitute wetland management committees, but nothing has been done yet. Meanwhile, temperatures continue to rise, migratory birds do not visit any more and more of the city is turning into a concrete jungle. Amit S. Upadhye reports
