Climate change & system: Double whammy for farmers & agricultural activities
Check dams built on the tributaries of Vrishabhavathi have not seen water in them for years. Locals have blamed the situation on decrease in the amount of rainfall year after year. But according to experts this is not the only & accurate reason for diminishing water. According to them, the reason for this catastrophe is pumping of water by industries, stopping of water by building canals in the starting areas of the river has led to the drying up. Another important reason is that the ground water level has fallen significantly due to a source of water are destroyed . Changes in precipitation due to climate change may be even a bigger reason.
