Depletion of groundwater in Doddaballapur (Bengaluru rural) has become a matter of concern. Many borewells in the region have dried up because of depleting groundwater levels. ATREE has suggested that in order to revive groundwater levels, the Government need to take adequate steps like encouraging farmers to cultivate crops which need less water and get better agricultural output/ product etc. ATREE has also opined that if the groundwater in this area is not protected scientifically, the area may turn infertile.
